
Mt. Laoshan is situated on the seashore of the Yellow Sea,in the east of Qingdao city, with a total area of 446 km2. It is one of the national key scenic spots announced by the State Council, including 6 tourist attractions—Liuqing, Jufeng, Taiqing, Yangkou, Huayan, Jiushui and Hualou, 6 scenic spots being restored. Jufeng(the highest peak), 1132.7m above sea level is the highest along the China’s coastal line of over 10,000 miles. Mt. Laoshan also is also known as “No 1 coastal mountain”, “land of immortals” or “fascinating and blessing place” making it a famous scenic spot for sightseeing, spending summer retreats, wellness vacations.
Thrusting from the sea, Mt. Laoshan embraces the sea, extending in four directions from its center—Jufeng (the highest peak), low, flat with ranges running to far distance in the west; high, steep and towering with fairy caves, stones, deep valleys and spring waterfalls in the east. The coastalline winds around the mountain with various rocks, islets and bays staggered. The famous “12 sceneries”—Jufeng Xuzhao (rising sun in the morning on the highest peak), Taiqing Shuiyue (a bright moon in spring water of Taiqing Palace), Haiqiao Xiandun (immortal’s pier at the sea cliff), Longtan Penyu ( the deep linns splashing sprays), Mingxia Sanyi (rainbow-tinted sunset clouds ), Naluoyanku (rock cave), Yundong Pansong (pine tree entwined on the cloud peak), Yanpu Chaoyin (tidal echoes of the waterfall), Weizhu Mingquan (spring murmuring in the bamboo grove), Jiushui Mingyi (crystalline ripples in nine rivers), Hualou Dieshi (layered stones at Hualou Peak), never fail to inspire awe in all who behold them.
